Pretrial Release Task Force

The Pretrial Release Task Force was seated by the Commission in June 2017. This Task Force was placed on hiatus in June 2020 and did not resume. With the sunset of the CCJJ on September 1, 2023, the Task Force status was transitioned from "hiatus" to "concluded."

This Task Force is expected to address the following topics: Compliance with the current statute varies across judicial districts, barriers to implementation include cost, resources, cost of pretrial supervision, communication between pre-trial services, courts, defense attorneys and prosecutors, training and general awareness of risk tool, review of the Colorado Pretrial Assessment Tool (CPAT), environment scan of pretrial use in Colorado and around the country. The Task Force has seated several Working Groups to study specific topics and prepare materials for the Task Force (see "Subgroups" below).
